Fridays are the perfect opportunity to shake things up and infuse a bit of fun into your classroom. I have a collection of ideas that will help you end your week on a high note.
1. Escape Rooms
Use a business-themed escape room to get students to collaborate and think critically. These activities are fantastic for fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Available Resources:
- Workplace Skills Escape Room
- Business Careers Escape Room
- Business Ownership Escape Room
- Accounting Detective Escape Room
2. Business-Related TV Shows
Use episodes or clips from shows like CNBC’s “Shark Tank” or “The Profit” to discuss real-world business challenges and solutions. These shows provide real-life examples and scenarios for students to analyze, discuss, and debate.
3. Online Simulations
Use online business simulations that bring real-world scenarios into your classroom. These simulations allow students to apply what they’ve learned in a practical, engaging way. Check out Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) for some free options.
4. Board Games
I love the classic board game Life for financial literacy and decision-making skills. Monopoly and Snake Oil are also fun additions to the classroom.
5. Play Music
Play music during independent or group work. You can allow students to submit songs for a playlist or choose your own.
6. Logo Activities
Logos are always a hit. Test your student’s knowledge of famous logos and branding with a fun quiz game. Or host a game called Logo Recall, where you call out a brand, and students try to draw the logo from memory.
7. Stock Market Simulation
Simulate the stock market by giving students a set amount of fake money to invest in stocks. They can track their investments over time and discuss their choices.
8. Sales Pitch for Classroom Supplies
Challenge your students to create creative sales pitches for everyday classroom supplies. This activity hones their persuasive skills and adds a fun twist to a mundane topic.
9. Vocabulary Guessing Game
Give students a stack of vocabulary words and have them describe each word to their peers without using the word itself. This game enhances communication skills and reinforces key terms.
10. Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament
Have students play rock-paper-scissors tournament style to determine an ultimate winner.
11. Puzzles
Have students work in groups to complete puzzles and build teamwork skills. Add a competition component for added fun.
I really hope these ideas help bring some fun to your Friday!
